Papaya...wearing skirt!

..

... I am speechless.

This is a papaya tree..... with some papayas on it, or what appears to be some papayas inside the cloth. The clothing appears to be a skirt.... or looks like one.

I am not sure what is inside the skirt... but it seems to be some papayas.

I was tempted to touch the papaya... but am not willing to risk someone shouting at me. So I just took some pictures of this papaya.

I am not sure if it is ripe, but I am guessing, it must taste so good when ripe, until the owner is willing to 'clothed' the papaya.

Papaya... I love papayas! Yummy!

Happy Deepavali

.

Happy Deepavali

May the light of goodness triumph over the bad

On every Deepavali, I always think of this.... yummy!

This is apallam, papadam, papad.. and also known as many other names!!

To know more about apallam: click here

Don't get me wrong... there are plenty of other glorious foods that are associated to Deepavali that I loved..... but this one, I really have to have this... in house!

Well, it tasted so good with fish curry (or any curry) with rice.. or simply you can eat this on it's own.

This is how it looks like... still in the packaging..

Well... what is this made off? see the picture below

I got a few packets of these.. and could not wait until meal times... had to fry them.. and have some immediately...

If you noticed.. this is something 'not that' healthy.. and every cardiologist will frown at the sight of this... noticed the oil... still on the appalam??

Who cares.... eat first talk later!!

Well.. my kids accidently dropped some of this.. and it broken into pieces... yummy...

Crispy apallam!!

...damm.. if you suffers from Gout... or prone to it like me... try to avoid this!!

..unless you have the pain killer Voltaren 50mg handy!

Bon Appetit!

Going Bananas...!

..

Almost everyone knows what is a banana. The scientific name for banana is Musa Acuminata Colla. Family of Musaceae

This is the picture of banana.

Now, what is the matter with banana?? You heard about cartel in drugs, oil and girls but have you heard about cartel on bananas?? You may think that I must be going bananas now!!

Don't believe me... this is what I found in the print editionof Financial Times today.

Excerpt:

EU fines companies in fruit price-fixing cartel

By Nikki Tait in Brussels

Published: October 16 2008 03:00 | Last updated: October 16 2008 03:00

Some of the world's biggest banana companies - including Chiquita Brands and Dole Food - were yesterday found to have rigged import prices into eight European countries, affecting a €2.5bn ($3.4bn) market.

Fines totalling €60.3m have been levied as a result.

... read more click here

Wow... they are talking in billions.. and this is Euros.. and Zimbabwe dollars..

Observation:

Since someone is sticking his/her neck out to rig the price of banana... it indicates that there must be good money in the bananas.... to be made!

Suggestion:

Let's grow bananas

Moral of another story:

If someone tells you to eat a banana ( 吃 蕉 ) ... that person is wishing you well..!!

Conclusion:

You can have my banana!

Breakfast in bed..?

.

I was in Kuching recently and was staying at Hilton, Kuching.

I found this on my pillow, upon check-in (that was sometime near midnight).

I wonder why in the world would someone wants to eat breakfast, right in bed immediately after waking up. As seen on in any movie, the actor or actress, woke up and took their breakfast almost immediately, after a morning kiss or two!.

Personally, I won't mind the kiss, you know, a kiss is just a kiss, nothing more... but eating in bed?

sigh.. at least I would go to the toilet for a pee, brush my teeth... or 'shit' and get dressed properly before eating...

If you had tried, (which I did once) this is no fun. It gave me the feeling that I was hospitalised... and unable to eat at a normal table... thus.. having breakfast in bed!.

The food taste a different as I need to sit with my leg stretched on the bed...

I would rather have my breakfast like a normal person... and not in bed.

Would you?

Come across this fruit.. yummy tasty fruits. I am not sure if kids nowaday know the name of this fruit. Do you know?

It thrives in tropical area and we used to have one of this tree in front of my house in my kampung.

This used to be one of my favourite fruits.... now, this is more popular as a drink!

I am not telling you the name, but if you are smart enough... the name is hidden somewhere here.

Here is a picture of the fruit when it is ripe... and ready to be eaten!

An apple a day.. keeps you medical bills away!

I had a pleasant surprise when I open the door of my office in Kuching the other day...

I found an apple on my table....

Hmm... who gave this to me?

Wow, I have a secret admirer.... in Kuching office? Who might that be..? So many girls here... could it be.... es..... or ... or.. or..

I was flaterred for a while, until I remembered that I had previously requesting the office administrator to cut down on junk food for the staff pantry, and replaces them with healthier alternatives e.g. Fruits.

Hmm this must be it....

Note:

Every month, we spent about RM3,000 for the staff's pantry in KL and Kuching only. Total staff: 42.

Alternative to tainted cow's milk...

Who doesn't love ice cream...

Currently, we are unable to really enjoy our favourite ice cream with peace, as the milk used may be tainted. Almost all of the supplier declares that the milk used in their products are safe... not from China.. therefore no melamine.. blah blah blah

Beats me, this is the very firstime... after many many many years I heard this.... not from China. Almost everything nowadays has something to do with China... so I really do not know who to believe... I guess, eat at you own risk!

Well, cow's milks has been used since time in memorial and it is very difficult to subsitute this immediately.

We have the following alternative (not exhaustive):

1) Goat's milk
2) Soy based milk
3) Good old human breast milk.

Yes, you read that correctly, human breast milk.

There was this association that is petitioning an ice cream producer to subsitute cow's milk with human's milk.

The following is the excerp from the letter:

"On behalf of PETA and our more than 2 million members and supporters, I'd like to bring your attention to an innovative new idea from Switzerland that would bring a unique twist to Ben and Jerry's. Storchen restaurant is set to unveil a menu that includes soups, stews, and sauces made with at least 75 percent breast milk procured from human donors who are paid in exchange for their milk. If Ben and Jerry's replaced the cow's milk in its ice cream with breast milk, your customers-and cows-would reap the benefits. "

To read the full letter: click here

Wow... I am imagining that this must be one of the milk supplier....

Who wants to work there milking.. the cow breast...?

Now, assumming that we have this ice cream, made from breast milk.....

Will you eat it!?

Conclusion:

Mother's milk is still the best!

Kinky food... anyone?

Disclaimer: Please do not read further, if you have a weak stomach!!

Well, by now you should have guessed that I am a Chinese blogger. Being a typical Chinese, we eat almost anything under the sun.

Eating is for survival or for the health benefits, or more correctly certain food is taken for the perceived value it provide the body, if consumed.

The following is a glass of homemade Snow Jelly, yummy!:

..with red dates

... without red dates

..with flash from Nokie E71

Well, looks tasty right? My mums made this for me because I had been coughing for the past few days. After taken this, I felt better already.

QUESTION: Will you drink this?

This is how the package looks like..... you can get this in any 'reputable' chinese sinseh (or the traditional chinese pharmacy). I am not sure if Watson, Guardian or any similar modern pharmacy is carrying this product.

My mum mumbles... it cost a hundred something.... blah blah.. for a pack of this! One pack can make 4 to 5 servings. Not cheap eh... so it must be good.

This is how it looks like.... before cooking.

You need to soak this for a few hours, and steam it for another few hours with red dates, rock sugar and some pandan leave (optional).

Well... what is this snow jelly?

It is somehow related to the reproductive system of this creature:

Spot it?

Now: Do you still want to drink this?

I would!
